Affectionately called Glorious Goodwood the Qatar Goodwood Festival takes place at the end of July/beginning of August. As the ultimate garden party, Glorious Goodwood is one of the most relaxed of the big festivals. By relaxed we don’t mean T-shirts and denims, think fresh, chic and floaty rather than cocktail dresses. Vintage is also a winner here.

This famous racing event will be held this year from Tuesday 29th July to Saturday 2nd August 2025.

Phase Eight is Goodwood’s Official Womenswear Partner and has curated a collection that answers all race-day style questions, with head-to-toe looks for all dress codes and enclosures.

Official Dress Code for the Richmond Enclosure 

Women should wear smart attire, suitable for a day at the races. Think summer garden-party: a floaty, floral dress, or an elegant top and trouser/skirt combination. Sportswear and fancy dress is not permitted. We say…Glorious Goodwood is the ideal racing occasion for the Boho chic look. But do make sure your Boho style is elegant chic rather than festival casual, especially if visiting the Richmond Enclosure.

Linen is popular with the Goodwood gentlemen because they know it will keep them cool in the heat, so ladies why not join them and wear linen. Esme Linen Dress is a breathable linen blend of 52% linen and 48% viscose. When choosing shoes, consider the racecourse’s uneven terrain and decking areas. Flat, block heels or wedges are better than a stiletto. During Qatar Goodwood Festival, all racegoers are encouraged to dress in a smart and elegant way, bringing a sense of style suited to the occasion of racing at Goodwood. This dress code applies to the following hospitality areas within the Gordon Enclosure: Sussex Roof Garden and Sussex Lounge Club. We Say.. Like the Richmond Enclosure, go garden party chic.

The Lennox is their most relaxed enclosure and has no formal dress code. They encourage all racegoers to dress for an afternoon’s racing at the world’s most beautiful racecourse but also comfortable clothing suitable for enjoying a picnic with friends and family.
