Gentlemen – What to Wear to the QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot Racecourse

Called British Champions for a reason, it is a prestigious race day known for the crowning of the champions for that year’s flat season as the very best jockeys, horses and trainers compete for this coveted title. Held this year on Saturday 18th October 2025

The Flat season at Ascot includes all racedays from 1st April 2025 to the 31st October 2025, and so their summer dress code still applies

Official Dress Code for the King Edward VII Enclosure & Hospitality areas.

Guests are required to dress for a smart summer occasion. Gentlemen must wear tailored trousers with a jacket, collared shirt and tie or cravat. Trainers are not allowed. Fancy dress, novelty attire and sportswear are also not permitted.

We Say.. Although autumnal days are here, most gentlemen still prefer to wear suits to QIPCO British Champions Day rather than don the heavier wool and tweed jackets. October probably will be chilly so layering is the answer – if you don’t want to wear a coat, then think about wearing a thermal vest under your shirt and consider a three piece suit for that extra layer of warmth. Matching waistcoats not only provide that extra layer for warmth but help to create the illusion of looking slimmer and taller, all due to the same block colour continuing further up the body and not breaking at the waist. House of Cavani’s James Sierra Super 130s Wool Three Piece Suit is in a sun kissed tan shade, has a matching waistcoat and is of 97% super 130 wool for warmth with 3% elastane for comfort. Jacket £249.99, Trousers £124.99, Waistcoat £124.99 A crisp white shirt will go well but also consider a patterned shirt such as their Marina Shirt in subtle shades, 97% Cotton 3% Elastane. Was £79.99 now £49.99.Team with a plain Knitted Tie in Olive green with matching pocket square. £24.99.
