The inspiration for Silent Engravings comes from the craft culture of Albania: intricate wood carvings, hand embroidery, and artisan, made objects that carry a sense of memory and identity. These influences are distilled into sharp silhouettes and subtle surface details that don’t need volume to leave an impact. “Craft doesn’t need to speak loudly to be remembered,” says Dudaj. “The marks it leaves are lasting, and in their silence lies strength.”
The collection is also deeply personal. Dudaj was moved by delicate straw artworks her great, grandfather made entirely by hand, pieces that appeared like paintings but revealed themselves as thousands of slivers of straw pieced together with obsessive patience. That dedication became a blueprint for the collection’s energy: quiet, intricate, and undeniably powerful.
Fabrication is everything for ALISADUDAJ. Silent Engravings is built from natural fibers, with wool at its core. Traditional techniques, wet felting, embroidery and hand knitting are reimagined through a contemporary lens, realized in close collaboration with local artisans. The result is tactile, sculptural pieces that feel alive in their making and enduring in their presence.
