Microneedling is described as a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment using tiny sterilised needles to create micro-punctures in the skin. As the skin is punctured, alerts are sent to the dermal fibroblasts cells which help repair and regenerate damaged tissues. These fibroblast cells stimulate collagen production which in turn helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores and the overall appearance of the complexion. As a popular skin treatment usually performed in a beauty salon, at home kits are now trending.

World-Renowned Acne Scar Specialist Dr. Davin Lim and Harvard Dermatologist Dr. Abby Waldman endorses the Banisher 3.0 system to be the safest at-home microneedling device. Advantages of microneedling treatment in clinics are: Generally use motorised pens using longer needles to penetrate the skin deeper; treatments can be tailored to the clients needs and based on skin type; clinics adhere to strict sanitation standards; use sterile single-use needles and are licensed to carry out the treatment.
Disadvantages are: More expensive than at home treatments and require more downtime due to the needles penetrating deeper into the skin. A course of 3-6 sessions is usually required for best results, and the sessions are usually spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
