Affectionately called Glorious Goodwood the Qatar Goodwood Festival takes place at the end of July/beginning of August. As the ultimate garden party, Glorious Goodwood is one of the most relaxed of the big festivals. By relaxed we don’t mean T-shirts and denims, think fresh, chic and floaty rather than cocktail dresses. Vintage is also a winner here.

This famous racing event will be held this year from Tuesday 28th July to Saturday 1st August 2026.

Official Dress Code for the Richmond Enclosure 

Women should wear smart attire, suitable for a day at the races. Think summer garden-party: a floaty, floral dress, or an elegant top and trouser/skirt combination. Sportswear and fancy dress is not permitted. 

Monochrome is always a winner at the races, bringing sophisticated drama to an outfit. Official Dress Code for the Gordon Enclosure 

During Qatar Goodwood Festival, all racegoers are encouraged to dress in a smart and elegant way, bringing a sense of style suited to the occasion of racing at Goodwood. This dress code applies to the following hospitality areas within the Gordon Enclosure: Sussex Roof Garden and Sussex Lounge Club. We Say.. Go for garden party chic.

The polka dot dress is always a favourite with racegoers, Lucinda Black Spot Midi Dress in black raises the bet with lilac spots rather than the traditional white. Official Dress Code for the Lennox Enclosure 

The Lennox is their most relaxed enclosure and has no formal dress code. They encourage all racegoers to dress for an afternoon’s racing at the world’s most beautiful racecourse but also comfortable clothing suitable for enjoying a picnic with friends and family.
